Te Aho Tāhuhu
The Progressive Home Ownership Webinar Series
Te Matapihi and Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - Ministry of Housing and Urban Development have produced Te Aho Tāhuhu, a webinar series with a focus on helping providers and whānau to successfully engage with the Progressive Home Ownership Fund and aid people in their journey towards achieving homeownership.
Te Aho Tāhuhu Webinar Series
The Meaning: Ko te aho tāhuhu, koia te aho tuatahi o te whatunga tāniko. Ki ētahi, ko te aho tapu. Ko tā tēnei aho, he pupuri i ngā whenu, he whakatakoto hoki i te tūāpapa o te tauira e whatua ana.
The Aho Tāhuhu is the first horizontal line (weft) that binds the vertical threads (warps) of Tāniko weaving. Tāniko is generally the first rows woven from which Korowai (Adorned cloaks) are created.
The Purpose: To support Iwi and Māori to engage successfully with the PHO fund as a housing provider, Te Tuāpapa Kura Kāinga and Te Matapihi will host a series of webinars. These will be designed to provide insight and guidance on how to navigate government processes and requirements, key elements of operating a successful PHO programme (including main options of shared equity, rent to buy, and leasehold), and where to access further information and support.
These webinars will be developed in partnership with Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga, and in collaboration with Te Puni Kōkiri, Kāinga Ora, and KiwiBuy
Te Aho Tāhuhu – The horizontal weft binding the vertical warps sets the platform (tūāpapa) for the rest of the tāniko pattern.
Purpose of the PHO Fund
The Progressive Home Ownership Fund (PHO) is a $400 million investment to help individuals and whānau buy their own homes, who would not otherwise have been able to. It has a specific aim to address housing affordability for Māori, Pacific peoples, and families with children.
Te Matapihi and HUD will produce a webinar series focused on helping providers and whānau to successfully engage the Progressive Home Ownership Fund and aid them on their journey towards homeownership. Many whānau are priced out of homeownership; these webinars will give insights directly from funders, housing and finance experts so that more providers and whānau can access the PHO Fund.
